The Old Summer Palace, also known as Yuanmingyuan Park was a collection of palaces and gardens originally made in 1707 and continuously expanded for another 150 years. They were destroyed by British and French soldiers during the Second Opium War and is seen as a symbol of foreign aggression in China.
