Minoru Park is located on a former horse-racing track and is the site of one of the earliest airstrips in Canada. It is the site of the first flight in Canada west of Winnipeg, sparking Richmond's role as the Vancouver area's aviation hub (and leading to the establishment of Vancouver International Airport nearby). It was also the site of Canada's first parachute jump. Today, Minoru Park is home to a cultural center, swimming pool, ice arena, public library, sports track and sports field.
