The Vancouver Public Library's Central branch is the largest capital investment project in Vancouver's history and has been the center of the city's library system since 1995. It is located within walking distance of General Motors Place, home of the Vancouver Canucks. Its Colosseum-like appearance has graced TVs and movie theaters everywhere in such productions as The 6th Day, Battlestar Galactica, Caprica, The 4400, Smallville and others.
