Arc de Triomphe was built between 1806 and 1836 to honor those who fought in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, as well as housing the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the First World War. It was once the largest triumphal arch in the world, until it was surpassed by the one in Pyongyang, North Korea.
