It is the largest private development project in Japan's history, costing about US $1.4 billion for 234,460 square meters (2.5 million square feet).

Hakata Port International Terminal is the only international ferry terminal in Fukuoka Prefecture and connects Japan with Busan, South Korea's Busan International Ferry Terminal. It is situated on the north side of the city of Fukuoka.

Momochi Seaside Park is the beach area of Fukuoka and is home to the city's largest landmarks, such as Fukuoka Tower and the Yahoo! Japan Dome. It faces Tsushima Strait, which divides South Korea and Japan, as well as the East China Sea and the Sea of Japan.

Fukuoka Castle was built around 1600 and was once the largest such castle in Kyushu, consisting of over 47,000 square meters (over 500,000 square feet) of land. It was abandoned in 1871 after the han system was scrapped and the castle's buildings were relocated or torn down. It was declared a national historic site in 1957.

Fukuoka Tower is next to Hakata Bay and is the tallest seaside tower in Japan. It is the 12th tallest tower in Japan and contains three observation decks. Its exterior consists of about 8,000 half-mirrors but also built to withstand earthquakes up to 7.0 magnitude.

The Shinkansen is Japan's bullet train system and the first of its kind in the world. Many trains travel over 400 km/h (250 MPH). It is also home to the busiest high-speed train line in the world, and effectively connects one end of Japan to the other.
