Yonsei University is one of the oldest universities in South Korea and among the three most prestigious universities in South Korea, known as the SKY universities (consisting of Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University). It is home to Severence Union Medical College, the first modern medical center in South Korea, and played a major role in anti-Japanese movements during Korea's period under Japanese occupation.
