Shinsegae Centum City is the world's largest department store, surpassing Macy's in New York City. It was built on the former lands of Suyeong Airport, which was previously the main airport for Busan, and also contains an ice skating rink. It also serves as the flagship store of the Shinsegae department store chain.

Incheon's Munhak Stadium hosted games in the 2002 FIFA World Cup (which was joint hosted by Korea and Japan), when it was known as Incheon World Cup Stadium. It is currently home to Incheon United FC, a professional soccer team in the K-League.

Daejeon World Cup Stadium hosted some of the games of the 2002 FIFA World Cup. It can fit over 41,000 spectators and is currently home to the Daejeon Citizen of the K-League, a professional soccer league in South Korea.

Incheon International Airport is the main hub for international flights serving the Seoul area, and is constantly ranked among the best airports in the world. When it opened, it replaced Gimpo International Airport as the main airport for Seoul.

It is one of the two major women's universities in South Korea, with the other being Ehwa Womans University (which is also the world's largest women's educational institution).

Hyochang Park is an urban park that is home to the tomb of numerous Korean patriots and others who fought for Korea's independence in the past. It was originally built as a site for a Crown Prince's tomb but was moved during the Japanese occupation of Korea. After the defeat of Japan and the independence of Korea, the Crown Prince's remains stayed in their new location while patriots' remains were moved here.

Gwanghwamun is the southern gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace. It was originally constructed in 1395. It was affected by Japanese invasions or occupations twice, in 1592 (when it was fully destroyed) and 1926 (when it was deconstructed and moved by the colonial authorities). It was again nearly completely destroyed during the Korean War, and rebuilt in the 1960s with concrete. However, in 2006, it was decided that the gate would be dismantled, moved to its original position and reconstructed with wood as per the original plans. The reconstruction was completed in August 2010.

It is one of the oldest universities in South Korea and has one of the most well-regarded law schools in the country. It also has a joint academic program with the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and the university boasts the largest number of international students out of all South Korean universities.

Expo Park was the site of the 1993 World's Fair in Daejeon (then romanized as "Taejon"). The theme of the expo was science and technology. Many of the pavilions are still standing, but some are in poor condition. This expo is a big reason why South Korea evolved into one of the world's high-tech powerhouses.

The Daejeon Subway is the newest subway system in South Korea and currently has only one line, with four additional lines being planned. The second line is planned to be a magnetic levitation train but no further information about it is available at the moment.

Daejeon Station is one of the major transportation hubs in South Korea, as the city lies in the intersection of the largest two railroad lines in the country. It is in this city that the two lines join together on its way towards Seoul Station. It is also a major station for the KTX bullet train.

Daejeon is the fifth largest city in South Korea, after Seoul, Busan, Daegu and Incheon. It is the capital city of Chungcheongnam Province, which it used to be part of before being split into its own provincial-level metropolitan city. It is most well known for being the host of the 1993 World's Fair. It is also a major transportation hub in the country, as most trains split off towards Busan and Gwangju from this city.

Banpo Bridge is in central Seoul and is home to the world's longest bridge fountain, with over a thousand LED nozzles laid out over a kilometer. It can shoot 190 tons of water every minute; the water comes directly from the Han River below and is continuously recycled. The fountain is choreographed to a scheduled music performance that occurs about 7 times daily.

Haeundae Beach has a reputation as South Korea's best beach and contains 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) of coastline, facing the Tsushima Strait and Sea of Japan. It is the most popular beach in the country and is home to the Busan Aquarium, the largest aquarium in the country. In the summertime, this beach is one of the most crowded in the world, with thousands of people visiting daily (and as many as 800,000 people daily during peak season). The beach holds the Guinness World Record (set in 2008) for most parasols on a beach, with 7,937.
