Robson Street is the most expensive retail district in Vancouver, and the 22nd most expensive in the world. After the Second World War, it was the center of German culture in the city, leading to the area being nicknamed Robsonstraße. In 1994, Robson Street was the center of a Stanley Cup riot after the Vancouver Canucks lost Game 7 of the 1994 Stanley Cup Final against the New York Rangers. The riot spread along Robson Street, up to around Robson Square.
