California State University Long Beach is the 2nd largest of the California State University system (and largest in the system by enrollment) and 3rd largest university in California by enrollment. The university's original name, Los Angeles-Orange County State College, reflects its proximity to Orange County as it is located less than a mile from the county's southeastern border. In 1965, it hosted the first International Sculpture Symposium event in the United States and first at a college campus.
