The Eiffel Tower is the tallest structure in Paris and most recognizable symbol of France. It was erected in 1889 to serve as the entrance to the World's Fair, and was once the tallest man-made structure in the world. Since its opening to the public, it has welcomed over 200 million visitors, making it the most-visited paid monument in the world.
