The Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre was originally built in 1887 and was home to the terminus station of the Canadian Pacific Railway, which stretched from Vancouver to Eastern Canada. Canada's first-ever transcontinental rail journey arrived at the Roundhouse via Engine 374 in May 1887. The building was expanded several times until 1950, after which it became obsolete. It was in danger of demolition but was saved and was a pavilion during the 1986 World's Fair. In 1993, it was decided that the building would house a community center, which it remains to this day.

Canadian Pacific 374, colloquially known as Engine 374, is the first transcontinental train to cross Canada, arriving in Vancouver on May 23, 1887. It marked the completion of one of the most ambitious engineering projects of the century, after ten years of construction from coast to coast. The train was retired in July 1945 but was neglected until 1983 when it was saved and restored in time to serve as a key attraction to the 1986 World's Fair in Vancouver. In the 1990s, it found a permanent home in the Yaletown Roundhouse Community Centre, which is the site of the former roundhouse building of the transcontinental railway line on which Engine 374 first made history.

BC Place is a large stadium in downtown Vancouver, next to Rogers Arena. It was built for the 1986 World's Fair opening and closing ceremonies. It was also home to the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics, making them the first ceremonies to be held indoors as BC Place was an indoor domed stadium at the time; currently, the domed roof is being replaced by a new retractable one. Prior to the roof's demolition, it was the world's largest air-supported domed roof. After the new roof's installation, it will be home to the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League and Vancouver Whitecaps, a team that will join MLS in 2011.

Science World at Telus World of Science, better known as Science World, is a science museum first built for the 1986 World's Fair, when it was known as Expo Centre. It is also currently home to a giant OMNIMAX and 3D IMAX theater. During the 2010 Winter Olympics, it was known as the Russky Dom (or Sochi.ru World), the pavilion for promoting the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

The Vancouver Convention Centre complex includes Canada Place and the new West Building (pictured), making it one of the largest convention centers in Canada. The West Building became the International Broadcast Centre during the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Canada Place is home to part of Vancouver Convention Centre and was built for the 1986 Expo World's Fair. It was the location of the world's first permanent IMAX theater, which has since closed down. Today, it serves as a major cruise ship terminal for journeys to Seattle and Alaska. During the 2010 Winter Olympics, Canada Place played a role as the Main Press Centre.

The SkyTrain is Metro Vancouver's rapid transit system. It first opened in 1986 for the World Expo, and is home to the world's longest automated rapid transit line. This station serves Rogers Arena, home of the Vancouver Canucks, as well as BC Place (home to the Canadian Football League's BC Lions and the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2010 Winter Paralympics) and Chinatown.
