Stanley is where Hong Kong meets the South China Sea. This is the first outposts for Europeans in Hong Kong, and served as the administrative center of Hong Kong until formal activity moved to Central. During the Second World War, this was the site where British, Indian and Canadian troops made their last stand before surrendering to Japan.
