Victoria Peak (locally known as "The Peak") isn't the tallest mountain in Hong Kong, but it's certainly the closest to the central business district. During its early colonial days, non-Chinese were barred from residing on Victoria Peak. A railcar ride called the Peak Tram, which survives to this day, was created to shuttle passengers to and from Victoria Peak and had similar restrictions in place. Today, Hong Kong's richest and most elite reside on Victoria Peak. The Peak Tram, along with the semicircle-shaped lookout tower, are among the top tourist attracts in Hong Kong.
