The Parthenon in Nashville is a full-scale replica of the structure in Athens, Greece. It was built for the 1897 World's Fair and inspired by Nashville's nickname, "Athens of the South." Originally built with plaster, brick and wood, it was rebuilt with concrete from 1920 to 1931. Today, the Parthenon is an art museum and the centerpiece of Centennial Park.
