Status of building/structure since photo:

The Mona Lisa was painted by Italian artist Leonardo Da Vinci and seen as the most famous piece of art in the world. Currently on permanent display at the Louvre museum in Paris, it was painted between 1503 and 1506. Its fame led to the painting being under attack by vandals and targeted by thieves numerous times; today, it is encased by bulletproof glass as a precaution.
